The aim of this study is to test the effectiveness of the “Hands-Off” web-based self-help program to reduce pornography consumption. The six-week intervention is based on scientifically-proven approaches for reducing porn use and its consequences. Your participation in the study will contribute to our understanding of the usefulness of this intervention.
You may participate in this study if you are 18 years old or older. Further, it is required that you have internet access at least once a week and that you can read and understand English language. According to the experience in former studies regarding porn use reduction, there are no significant health risks in participating in the current study. However, in case you experience acute withdrawal or other physical or mental symptoms, we recommend that you see a health professional. Moreover, a list of emergency contacts will be provided during the study.
Participating in this study is free of charge. Participating in this study is voluntary. Your consent can be withdrawn at any time and without justification. At no stage of the study names or addresses will be collected. A valid email address will be required in order to contact you for a follow-up inquiry at the end of the program and 1 and 3 months after the end of the program. The follow-up email will be sent from firstname.lastname@example.org. Data will be processed anonymously in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (EU) 2016/679. We will use your email address to contact you and pair your results. We will store your email address and your responses in separate files, therefore, we cannot connect your e-mail address to your responses. From the results of this study, scientific papers will be published.
